Sessant&#8217;anni? Com&#8217;\u00e8 possibile che io abbia gi\u00e0 sessant&#8217;anni? Ricordo molto bene quando, a vent&#8217;anni, avevo calcolato l&#8217;anno in cui avrei compiuto 60 anni e il 2025 mi sembrava appartenere alla fantascienza. Ma invecchiare fa parte della vita. Mio marito Keith mi ha chiesto cosa desiderassi per questo compleanno speciale. Ho saputo subito cosa desideravo: andare in Kenya a trovare le bambine, Faith ed Edna, che sosteniamo da dieci anni.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c142bfa title elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c142bfa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Due bambine \u2013 e una grande speranza<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-eed4ce2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"eed4ce2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00abLiberare i bambini dalla povert\u00e0 nel nome di Ges\u00f9\u00bb: \u00e8 una missione che ci sta a cuore da decenni. Durante una conferenza estiva abbiamo sentito parlare per la prima volta del lavoro di Compassion e ne siamo stati entusiasti.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In seguito, ho iniziato a lavorare a Basilea per <a href=\"https:\/\/rahab.heilsarmee.ch\/basel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rahab<\/a>, un progetto di sostegno alle prostitute del quartiere a luci rosse. \u00c8 l\u00ec che mi sono trovata a confrontarmi direttamente con il problema della tratta di esseri umani. Ed \u00e8 stato in quel periodo che abbiamo deciso di sostenere due bambine di cinque anni a Mombasa, una citt\u00e0 tristemente famosa per il turismo sessuale. Siamo partiti per il Kenya per incontrare le bambine, con cui avevamo instaurato un legame attraverso numerose lettere. Le bambine erano ormai diventate giovani donne. Pensavo che questa storia avrebbe testimoniato come il sostegno le avesse preservate dallo sfruttamento. Invece, mi ha ricordato una versione moderna <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bible.com\/it\/bible\/122\/RUT.1.NR06\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">della storia di Ruth<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Qualche mese prima del nostro viaggio, abbiamo scoperto che Edna si era trasferita a Nairobi, la capitale del Kenya. Suo padre, il capofamiglia, era morto improvvisamente. Poi \u00e8 arrivata un\u2019altra notizia: Edna era andata a viveva in un collegio. Eravamo sotto shock e molto preoccupati. Poco tempo dopo, Edna ci ha scritto che sua madre, Miriam, era partita per lavorare in Arabia Saudita. Compassion ci ha assicurato che il collegio era un buon posto, ma l\u2019idea che fosse separata da sua madre ci spezzava il cuore.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cd9e5d4 elementor-blockquote--skin-quotation elementor-blockquote--align-center elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"cd9e5d4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\tLa vita a volte \u00e8 difficile per tutti noi, ma la povert\u00e0 amplifica ogni sfida. Abbiamo incontrato Edna in una giornata di sole in un parco faunistico di Nairobi. \u00c8 stato un incontro meraviglioso e commovente. La giovane donna, timida, si \u00e8 aperta con noi, regalando a entrambi dei mantelli tradizionali masai, una bellissima borsa a me e un bastone degli anziani, simbolo di saggezza e autorit\u00e0, a Keith. Abbiamo esplorato il parco insieme e, durante il suo primo giro sugli autoscontri, ha subito provato un malizioso piacere nell\u2019inseguire Keith lungo il percorso.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A pranzo, abbiamo ricevuto ulteriori informazioni sulla sua situazione: dopo la morte del padre, la tradizione voleva che i beni andassero alla famiglia di lui e non alla moglie. Edna e sua madre sono state cacciate dalla loro casa e si sono ritrovate improvvisamente in strada.
